I managed to stretch about 5 hours of work into 12 hours by installing imporperly and then removing and installing improperly again ....and removing again....most of the rivets in the Rudder Spar. Oh well, I got a lot of practice removing rivets and I learned what I was doing wrong with the rivet hammer...I was using one. I modified my squeezer to work in tight places and the problem was solved. Stay away from the hammer gun if possible.
I was fortunate that I did not have time to rivet the rudder skin the same day I butchered the spar caps and hinges by removing the rivets twice. After "sleeping on it" the next day I decided I was not satisfied with all the rework, so I ordered the rudder "parts" again from Vans. Hopefully the fourth try will be the charm.
Area to be re-built. Maybe the rudder hinge is important...ha.
