Brief Description:  License to Build "Amatörbyggnadstillstånd"

Finally, I received the "License to build" permit (Swedish "Amatörbyggnadstillstånd") from the EAA (Chapter 222). It took about a year to get the permit counting from the time when I decided to choose the Savannah S as the object. At that time I wasn't aware that this airplane had no type certification in Sweden (there are no Savannahs in Sweden) and furthermore that no one in Europe had built a Savannah according to the VLA specifications before. So considering theese obstacles I'm very pleased with the result. The EAA office has been very helpful and efficient and so have the appointed controllers. However, most of all, the original documentation by ICP was of such a quality that it essentially complied with the VLA specifications including extensive load testing. Missing parts (essentially paragraphs concerning the fuel system) was quickly sorted out by ICP The permit means that the Savannah S is now certified in Sweden according to the European CS-VLA with a MTOW of 560 kg (in stead of the standard "microlight" 450kg). The 110kg of extra useful load means a lot. For instance my big friends can join me for a ride without keeping on a diet and I can use long range tanks and add some extra fuel.

Time to order the Savannah S kit!
