Brief Description: Who Am I?

Hi! I'm Terry Smith, budding Gyroplane Builder! My love of aviation began when I was 9 years old, when I remember the 1st time I flew in an aircraft (I had flown when I was younger, but I don't recall that event when I was 3!)
It was a flight to and from England, and the view from the clouds, and the serene feeling captured me, and to this day I still enjoy getting into the air.
I entered the USAF in 1981, repairing avionics on KC-135 and KC-10A aircraft, which gave me access to the 2 things I really enjoy - planes and electronics!
The 1st time I saw a Gyroplane was in James Bond's "You Only Live Twice" (still one of my favorite Bond movies). I was a child then, so I wasn't in a position to do more than drool about it. After moving to California I started to look more into Gyros (1986) and began researching them a little more. By the time I got married (1991), I was going to different events to see them fly.
I started going to the Ken Brock Freedom Fly-In at the El Mirage Dry Lake (California) to watch the gyros fly, and REALLY got hooked.
In 2009, I joined the PRA Chapter 1 group, which hosts the KBFFI each year. Since that time, I've become the Chapter Webmaster, and in 2012, I became the Chapter President - all while NOT owning a gyro!
I've finally gotten the chance to get my own Gyro - a Sportcopter! I decided to get a custom color, some upgraded options, and finally, here we are - working on my build!
