Brief Description:  Control rigging and misc.

Today I installed the tailwheel assembly in the morning. I also installed the cowling to take a look at the fit. Overall it fits well. There are some areas I need to do some light trimming to get it just right. I then turned back to the wings and rigged the flaps. It was very simple and the notches are nearly perfectly aligned at 10, 20, and 30 degrees. Rigging the ailerons was a little more involved, but come together nicely. The controls feel very tight and smooth. I checked torque and the witness holes on all the rod ends and put on torque stripe to make for easy inspections. I finished hook up the lighting and pitot connections. I started on installing the landing lights. The holes cut easily with a rotary disc and I cleaned up the edges with a narrow belt sander. I ended up rerouting the nav/strobe light wiring from the conduit running through the front part of the rib. I had to cut the wiring to facilitate this and run it all through conduit through the second lightening hole back. This will allow me to place the landing light reflector were the conduit originally was installed. I checked the function of the landing lights and had one that was not working. It was hot and when I picked it up off the wing the light came on. I figured the power side was grounding internally to the body of the light. An ohm check on the unit confirmed this. Richard from Duck Works said he will send out a new light.
