Brief Description:  Pitot Tube Retrofit

Today I fit the pitot tube mast to the wing. I made an access hole where the previous pitot tube mount was. I reinforced this area with a .032” doubler plate. The plate is riveted with spacing set by the original pitot tube doubler. I used AN 426 rivets to attach the doubler inside the wing. This will transfer the loads to the flush mounted pitot tube bracket plate attached by nut plates, and maintain the strength in this area. I primed and painted the pitot tube mast. I am waiting for nut plated to arrive to finish the installation.
I switched gears to the tailwheel and dilled out the new socket. I used square stock clamped to the tail spring to drill the square stock from the existing hole. Then I lined it up with an inclinometer to double check that nothing moved and drilled the new socket with the square stock as a guide I primed the tailwheel parts and steering rod.
