Brief Description:  GPS wrap up and skyview modules.

I tackled the tight fitting GPS. I finished filing and lining up the tray. The top and bottom panel fit is tight, but acceptable. The right side got a little wide, but the gap is not noticeable unless you really try and see it. I mounte the antenna, as planned, on the glareshield access panel. The many screws securing it should allow the entire glarshield to act as a ground plain. I installed the EFIS backup battery and network hub on the underside of the glare shield behind the left side of the panel. I mounted the ARINC 429 module on the right underside of the glare shield close to the GPS tray. I ended up making a harbor freight run to get an angle drill short enough that I avoided having to remove the windscreen to drill the mounting holes. The ARINC module will allow the GPS and EFIS to communicate. It will allow me to choose the GPS as a NAV source on the HSI and perform non-precision approaches, terminal procedures, and enroute navigation. I didn’t realize Dynon does not include a serial harness with every module sold. So I was short a module. After talking with tech support, I made a serial cable to connect the ARINC module. The pinout shows 2 ground and power circuits. I made twisted pairs for these. The remaining 5 pins are data connectors. The network hub allows more modules to be connected to the Skyview system without having to splice harnesses. The EFIS has 2 network ports that were connected to the AHARS and EMS module. Now the AHARS is connected to the EFIS. The other port connects to the hub. The hub is now connected to the ARINC module and the EMS module. The 2 remaining ports will be used to connect the roll and pitch autopilot servos. I have the wire harnesses for the auto-pilot and will probably install them before completion. I am still on the fence about getting servos right away or finishing the project first. I finished tidying up the wiring behind the panel and reinstalled the avionics.
