Brief Description:  Tank fittings, capacitive plates

Tonight I made another attempt at fabricating the T-405 Tank Attach Angle from 2" x2.5" aluminum angle. The result was much better this time. I learned never to mark on the back side of the angle for cuts because you don't account for the thickness of the metal. This one I marked on the inside of the engle and it turned out pretty well. I used a vixen file and then a fine tooth file to finish the shape and smooth some, though it will still need to be ground and buffed well using the ScotchBrite wheels. With the angle fabricated I match drilled it to the rib and T-410 reinforcement plate, and match drilled the other T-410 to the outside tank rib.

The next step was to start installation on the capacitive fuel gauge senders. The screw holes were match drilled to the appropriate tank ribs, then the plates were reamed and dimpled and nutplates riveted to the plates. Checking for fit I trimmed a small amount from one of the tank stiffeners to provide proper clearance with the plate.

I plan to leave this tank for now and return to the wing, completing the riveting of the leading edge and top skins. I will then assembel the right wing to the same stage, so I can complete and seal both tanks at the same time.
