Brief Description:  Leg fairing alignment, wing tips

I made some wheel chocks for the main wheels using 2x4 and plywood so I could lock them down and prevent the plane from moving. The tail was then raised to level the fuselage to the level flight attitude. The was done by lifting the tail and putting my Workmate underneath the tailwheel, then adding boards (6.5" worth) until it reached level. I then made a stand to fit under the tailwheel mount as additional support.

I attached the motor hoist to the motor mount and lifted the front just enought to get the weight off of the tires so the gear legs could straighten to their in-flight position. Once all this was done the fuselage centerline was marked on the floor using a string and then the leg fairing were aligned to extended centerlines off of this. Once the proper alignment was made the hose clamp holding the fairing to each leg was tightened down and the locations were marked on the leg and fairing.

The tip lense for the other wingtip was marked, cut and sanded to fit the opening. With both lenses fitted the attachment screw holes were marked, platenuts drilled to the wingtips, holes countersunk and platenuts riveted. The lenses were countersunk. I then used electrical tape on the edges of the lenses and installed them on the tips and a paste of microsphere epoxy was used to fill the gaps between the wingtip and the lense edges.

The Nav/Strobe fillets were primed using a small brush.
