Brief Description:  S.B 14-01-31 Horizontal stabilizer spar

Since I have completed the wings for now and am awaiting delivery of the fuselage kit, I decided to make use of this time by completing the Front Spar Service Bulletin on the horizontal stabilizer. I retrieved my HS from the cradle stand and placed it on the bench top. First thing was to remove the elevators, and these can remain detached until final assembly.

The next several steps is to drill out the rivets attachin the top and bottom skins to the nose rib and main rib and the rivets attaching the reinforcement angle and splice angles to the main spar. I was able to drill out all of these ecept 3 on each side that are inside the skin and will require a 90 degree drill. I place one of these on order with Aircraft Spruce today and expect I should have it by the weekend.

One rivet drilled out badly and the hole was somewhat enlarged so I also ordered some -6 diameter rivets so I can drill out the elongated hole and use this next size rivet.
