Yesterday's oversight in leaving off the bottom attach strips didn't cost me too much. It took about an hour to drill the rivets out of the bottom of the rudder and re-rivet, this time with the attach strips properly in place. So an hour and 30 rivets lost wasn't too bad a penalty for my error. The rework all looked good. Then I completed the task of epoxy glueing the trailing edge angle in place and clecoing together with an aluminum angle to keep the seam straight and flat. The epoxy was thicker than I expected and I ended up spreading it over the angle with my hands, covered with latex gloves. This worked pretty well and I got a nice thin coat along both sides.I set the angle aside while throwing away the gloves and putting on a new pair then inserted the angle between the skins. I tried to clear the holes with a toothpick before inserting the cleco, trying to keep them as clean as possible. After it had all set for a half hour or so I removed each cleco, wiped it off and reinserted. It all looks very good and straight, so as long as I can get the clecos out a few days from now it will be ready to rivet.
