Brief Description:  Empennage Fitting

- Finished aligning VS and then drilled the front spar to the bottom 2 rows of holes in F781 plate. The top row of pre-punch was not readily accessible, so I opted to do those after disassembly. - Drilled the bottom of the rear spar to the F712 Bulkhead, by pilot drilling through the existing #30 holes in the tie-down (which was previously installed). This was a bit challenging as I had to use the right angle drill w/ the speed-bore extension to get down into the elevator horn well and drill from the inside-out. Once the pilot holes were drilled, it was straight forward to open them to 3/16" from the outside. - Spent a couple hours iteratively hanging the rudder and getting the rod ends aligned. In the end, I settled for using the top and middle measurements as given and adjusting the bottom from 1 3/64" down to 56/64." This worked well and kept an even clearance throughout the range of motion. - Next, I installed the rudder stops and ran into the same problem that I subsequently found out that many builders had, i.e. the dimensions for the stops allow to much travel. On the left side, I had a 1" gap vice the 1 1/8" called for at full travel. I accepted this. But on the right side the gap was only 5/8!" I stopped for the night and decided to fabricate a longer stop for the right side.
