Brief Description:  Aft spar riveting

This past week end was really not a good one. It seems like nothing works as it is supposed to. Now that I’m about to finish riveting the aft spar, I have trouble with the rib’s aft flanges “curling” up when I set the rivets in place. One rivet out of two sets in place without problems. Perhaps I’m overreacting to this. I’ll as Van’s support for advice. By chance, I’m less than halfway done on one spar so if I need to remove all the already installed rivets, the situation can be corrected fairly easily. I hate removing rivets.

A way around that perhaps is to make a doubler plate, .040 inch thick placed over the aft flange prior to riveting. This will certainly prevent the flange from curling up during rivet setting. We’ll see…
