Brief Description: Leading edges parts preparation - Landing li
I’ve placed several orders for parts and tools so while waiting, I’ve started on the leading edge assembly. Referring to the landing lights, I know that several builders have painted out the parts around the landing light bay but I’ve decided to have them polished. The rationale behind that is I believe that light output should be maximised with a mirror like finish all around those parts. This is exactly how it is done anyway inside a projector bulb.
I’ve used a polishing compound bought at the hardware store. I’ve used that in the past on other projects with excellent results. The stuff is made by Mother’s out of California. It seems that they found the right formula for aluminum. The photo isn’t representative of what you can see in real life. It looks much shinier than that.
