Brief Description: Lwing prepped for paint, sender safetied, tank fin
With plans to transport the left wing to the paint shop this week I spent a large part of the day finalizing then prepping this wing for paint which included stripping a significant amount of aged and hardened masking tape and residue of the top and bottom skins and trailing edge. Rubbed and sanded all filled spots and putty applied previously which was also a challenge since it had hardened significantly by now and I had perhaps over applied it in most places especially on the riveted bottom skin.
Also spent some time drawing up and writing out instructions for the painters describing the desired finish and masking with diagrams to ensure there was no confusion and consistency in both wings.
I was notified of a service bulletin from Vans in which it is recommended that the fuel sender units be saftied which I carried out including further safeying of the components - repeated retroactively to the already fitted right wing installation.
