Brief Description:  Wingtips - LW finishing, RW riveting

With finishing and prep continuing slowly (due to overset and over-applied filler again) on the LW, I took a break from that and paid some attention to the wingtips. The LW being the most complete and planned first to go for paint was worked on first. Some research and discussion occured around the best method of installing the tip, the hinge or screws methods.

We are not yet decided despite extensively looking into both, I am waiting for some feedback and advice from fellow builders on which is best. I think the hinge method is the way to personally.

I was given some advice on wing tip stiffening/ reinforcing and have done away with my previous method using full foam ribs and now just using strips of reinforcing, glassed to the inside top and bottom edges. Spent quite a bit of time experimenting with variuous materials to find the best to reinforce the glass tip.

The plastic tubing that I have works very well but I have to find a suitable glass cloth and glue to secure it in place, another option is to use foam strips or cardboard tube glassed in place diagionally on the bottom and top inside edges.
