Brief Description:  Ailerons and right mag problems

Sam and I raised tail to see if carb drip occurs in tail low position only. Still drips (from the throat).

Sam installed the N number and “Cessna” decal on the right side of the tail. Jeanne approved positioning.

Bill checked over the aileron controls. Discovered that I had neglected to install the two washers at the control arms on the aileron ends. (The hard ones to get on and off, of course.) Inserting those washers may very well affect aileron position to the point where the turnbuckles may have to be re-tensioned.

Bill also noted misaligned aileron pulleys in fuselage: upper right, lower left. Correction of these problems will likely require removing turnbuckle safety wire, loosening cables, re-rigging for proper positioning and tension, and re-safety wiring all three turnbuckles. Sam will have to do, my body doesn’t have the flexibility for the job.

Called Aircraft Spruce to try and cancel Hooker Harness belts and order the Aircraft Spruce STC’ed versions. “Nick” promises to get back to me on whether Hooker will give us a refund. Holding off on final order until we get a definite answer on that.

Borrowed magneto timing box and attempted timing mags. Was able to time left OK to 30 degrees BTC. Right mag cannot be moved enough to bring timing to 28 degrees BTC. After much experimenting reached decision that internal timing must be incorrect. Will confirm logic with Bill, then pull mag and retime internally.
