Brief Description:  Studying for Rotorcraft Add-On

I knew I was going to need to basically start from scratch on both my groundwork and flying since I used to feel rusty after just 8 day, never mind 8 years. I had the requirements completed, but no remaining skills in my estimation. I came up with a plan and reached out to Laura, my previous instructor. My plan was to take two months studying everything I could regarding the ground portion of the training, and then take two weeks off from work and find a flight school somewhere in the US that was still flying the 300’s. I think Laura thought I was crazy, but agreed to help find some training facilities that might entertain such an odd request. After much research and outreach, I landed on Tomlinson Aviation in Ormond Beach, FL., just north of Daytona.

Darleen, who runs the office for Tomlinson took my call and though that this might be something that could work, depending on how prepared I was when I arrived. I was up for the challenge and so I dug out all of my old books and reference manuals, and ordered about 40 pounds of additional materials to re-educate myself with all of the information from my Private Pilot training days, and my helicopter supplemental information and aerodynamics.

My priorities have to change from the helicopter to the books, and I need to study every day to prepare for my seemingly impossible challenge. Expect to see a huge drop off in construction efforts.
