Brief Description: Main Rotor Blade Grip Installation
This was an interesting installation because you actually use a high strength 3M adhesive on the carbon blade and metal grip before you bolt it all together.
Just as with painting, I installed the grip dry, masked the blade where I didn’t want the adhesive, removed and applied the 3M product to both parts. Once they dried to the level required in the directions, I then installed, bolted, removed the tape, and torqued the bolts per the specifications.
The next plate bolts in place and will be used to adjust the lead and lag of the blade using the two barrel mounted tension bolts for alignment. It’s mostly resting without tension until the blades are mounted onto the main rotor head back at the hanger.
