Brief Description: Relocate Main Blades / Main Rotor Plug Modificatio
As you know, I originally thought I would be doing much more construction at my hanger, but my shop at home is so much more conducive to actually getting things done. I have better lighting, all of my tools, all the hardware I need, and it’s one step outside my house and 30 seconds from my bed. So, to take advantage of efficiency of production, I brought the main rotor blades home to work on and build.
I bought some folding sawhorses and used pipe insulation to pad the top of them for the blades. I will use the box that the blades came in for a wall shelf back at the hanger.
The first work to the blades was securing the blade tip plug in place with a screw inserting from the top of the blade. You had to drill through the carbon into the aluminum in just the right spot, then tap the hole, then install a fastening screw. It’s much easier to tap a hole when it goes all the way through, I have to tell you.
