Brief Description:  Throttle Linkage

Now that the carburetor is installed I was able to install the throttle linkage that I made months ago when I make the other control connections inside the cabin. Unfortunately, I made it per plan, but it’s several inches too short. I didn’t have any more of the material I needed, but one call to Safari fixed that. I told Delane what I needed, and she got it right in the mail. Thanks Delane!

The process is fairly straight forward, especially since I already ran up the bearings on the hein joints so they would spin freely. All I need to do is to drill out the rod to a “Q” size hole which is required for the thread size I need to tap into it. In order to make sure the hole didn’t get off center, I slowly upsized the hole using four different drill bits.

Once the correct size hole was achieved, I threaded each side and then sanded and polished the rod before installing the joints.

Finally, I installed the linkage making sure that the rolling of the throttle inside the cabin activated the carburetor as required, and had the appropriate travel needed for idle and wide open. The level on the carburetor needed to be adjusted and resecured.
