Brief Description:  Continued Collective Friction Drama

As you may remember, I was sent friction blocks for the collective friction control that were incorrectly drilled. It is easy to see how this happened since the only difference between the two blocks are the frame mounting holes drilled in one of them. Safari immediately shipped out a new set, but when they came today, they were also drilled and tapped incorrectly as the first set was. The mounted block needs to be the threaded block, not the other way around. I even confirmed with my buddy Tom that he was sent the correct blocks with his kit.

This project looked like it was going to be the simplest task of anything I had done, but so far it is topping the list as one of the most frustrating. Nothing with this friction project has gone smoothly. While Safari is sending me the third set of blocks, I carefully drilled out the rear block and made it a front block. This had to be done precisely since the threaded control rod is VERY close to the mounting holes and it must be avoided.

I then used the front block as a rear block and completed the task after resolving about 10 other fitting and sizing issues. Once I receive the new block, I will swap it out with my temporary rear block. I needed to get this done before I moved on to the next task. NOTHING just bolts on or falls into place!
