Brief Description:  Wire, fuel, and Calibrate Fuel Tanks

Everything always takes longer than you think it will, and I’m not even going into ANY details about the millions of trips back to the shop at home for this bolt, that tool, and a different thingy that is better than the jigamabob that I have here, not to mention the gazillion trips to the hardware store buying one single item or tool one at a time.

Between all that, and while Tom was finishing up items he was working on and getting set up to start the main rotor assembly, I was picking up the various outstanding wiring and wiring of the fuel tanks and filling 5 gallon jugs with fuel and reading about calibrating the fuel tanks.

Before filling the tanks, they both needed to be calibrated for the empty condition, and then after the tanks are filled, I will calibrate them for the full position. The procedure is pretty straightforward in the sensor instructions. It’s basically a process of grounding a specific wire on the harness, turning on the power to the gauge, counting a certain number of seconds, removing the ground, and then letting the gauge do it’s own calibration process. The same is done for the full condition, but with a longer count.
