Brief Description:  Seatbelt Installation / Collective Tension Spring

Seatbelt Installation / Collective Tension Spring & Cable / Oil Pressure Sender Wiring / Oil Temp Wiring / Carb Temp Wiring

The upper seatbelts were installed months ago, but I needed to hold off on the lower belts because they would be in the way of all of the electrical work in process. In addition, I couldn’t install the right side belts because I still needed to install the right well panel, which required be to finish the battery and ground work below it. Unlike the top belts that retract, the lower belts in the 4-point system are static and they won’t chafe on the metal through holes as the top would. Once the installation was completed, I wrapped them all up in rags and tape so they wouldn’t scratch anything or short out something upon contact.

I also delayed installing the collective cable and spring hold-down until the wires to the top of the cabin were complete just to give myself some more room to work. I like how this design works because it’s redundant. I will likely need to adjust the tension once the rigging is installed, but basically what will happen is if you let go of the collective, it won’t default to full pitch and stall the blades. It will instead make the blades flat and bring you into an auto rotation.

It’s very rewarding to finish the wiring of the engine sending units and secure all of the wires that have been hanging out the back of the ship for months. As I mentioned before, the connecting of the wires is the simplest of tasks. Making them secure, organized, bundled, and properly routed is where the real work is. The carb temp, oil pressure, oil temp sensors are now complete.
