Brief Description:  Mag Switch Wiring / Hanger Organization / Antenna

Mag Switch Wiring / Hanger Organization / Antenna Mount Template / Drill Tail Boom for Vert. Stab. / Final Mark – Up and Trimming of Vert. Stab.

I disconnected the battery so I could continue the wiring process without worry. I really don’t need to do this because of the master solenoid, but I want an extra layer of comfort. The next wiring task was to run the leads from the mag switch on the console to the E-Mags under the engine. I found it much easier to just remove the switch, make the connections, and then reinstall.

I need to prepare for the move to the airport hanger, so I spent much of the day at the hanger cleaning up, removing crates of helicopter parts off the trailer and onto the shelves. I still need to stand the gantry crane, but I need at least 3 more people to do it safely. Another annoying thing was that I had to replace the brand new Snap On compressor that I bought at Costco because it crapped out after just one use. I’m hoping I have better luck with the replacement.

While at the hanger, I was able to work out a few things I needed to continue fabrication back at the shop. The first task was to make a cardboard template for the antenna base. The second was to perform yet another fitting of the vertical stabilizer, and the third task was to drill the holes for the mounting screws in the tabs on the boom for the stabilizer. Once that was done, I marked them on the vertical stabilizer and drilled them back at the shop. This would also help insure that I wasn’t taking off too much material of the stabilizer. I drilled simple pilot holes in the boom tabs, and I will enlarge them later once I confirm the screw size I will be using.
