Brief Description:  Painting Booth and Finished Panels

Okay…I’m madly in love with my painters! Over half of the panels have been painted and are completed, and they carefully laid them out for me in their shop so they wouldn’t get damaged during the hardening process. Gratefully, they asked me to come pick up the first phase of panels so they wouldn’t get damaged in some random shop accident. It also gave me an opportunity to see the rest of the panels hanging in their booth with Eddie doing his thing. Very cool to see it all in process!

Two trips back and forth between the paint shop and my shop at home in my Jeep with the seats down got everything back where it all started. There were two pieces with small drips that I need them to re-do, but they gladly told me to bring them back for Eddie to fix.

I’m sure you can’t see from the photos, but the panels and paint look amazing. As a quick reminder, this white paint will allow me to build the ship with no raw aluminum, then apply the final paint scheme. Ryan, my scheme design guy from Berkeley is close to completing his recommendations, so I hope to finalize colors and style by the end of this weekend. I also need to confirm seat and carpet colors as well.

My buddy Tom will be out here in California around the middle of this month to help rivet the exterior of the ship, and I’m targeting 12/21 to deliver the cabin to the paint shop if it works out. My painters have arranged for a flatbed tow truck to come to my shop so we can load up the ship and move it to the paint booth. Marco and Eddie will actually drive over and help load it up. Can you say Customer Service?
