Brief Description:  Ground Movement Wheel Issues

So I know from the beginning that this was going to be an issue, but stupid me, I failed to do anything about it. The problem is that when the ground wheel mounts were welded onto the landing gear shoes, they weren’t perfectly level which would allow the wheels to sit perpendicular to the ground. What happened was that the wheels are toed outward making them too close to the ground, and very difficult to remove without someone to pull the tail down while you put a block under the landing gear, remove the wheel, have them tilt it back again, and finally remove the block. This must be performed on both sides. Obviously, not how the design was intended.

There is no way that I’m going backwards and disassembling the landing gear so they can be rewelded and powder coated again. My solution for now is to reconfigure the stub on the wheel frame that inserts into the helicopter shoe mount. If I can get it rewelded maybe an inch higher, I should get enough clearance, at least on pavement. Grass may be another issue.
