Brief Description:  Antenna and Horizontal Stab Installation

Before moving the helicopter from the shop at home, I needed to remove the communication antenna to get it though the door. I never fully installed it in the first place because I wanted to remove it for the installation of the transmission because I knew it was going to be in our way. I could now to the final installation and connect the coax and wires as required.

I also finally got the horizontal stabilizer back from Eddie, and I think the paint looks great. He’s not happy with the finish since his painting booth was colder than ideal, but I think it’s fine, and the paint scheme matches perfectly.

Tom took on the task of removing all the paint on the shaft and securing it onto the tail boom. Safari instructs you to mount it so it’s aligning with the tail boom rotor frame, but it can be adjusted as needed during testing.

In addition, I wanted to clarify that the stabilizer DOES have the reinforced sleeve that is now required at the mounting side of the frame post. There were concerns about the vibration causing cracks in the frame, so this should eliminate the concern, although the inspections will still be frequent.
