Brief Description:  Upper Seatbelts

I have been wanting to install these for awhile, and now that I’m getting ready to start wiring the upper connections to the headboard, and route the upper engine sensor wires, now is the time.

I feared significant clearance issues because I don’t think this model of retractable seatbelt has been used much from the Safari photos I’ve seen. I mounted them with the largest bolts that would fit both the belt mounts and frame and luckily I only had one conflict. The farthest left belt for the pilot hits the fuel shutoff lever. I was so bummed. There are actually two additional holes in the belt mount, so I was able to offset that one mount enough to eliminate the conflict. I hate the way it looks with the headboard off, but you will never see it once everything is in place.

The lower seatbelts are static belts, and I can wait on these while I finish up the cockpit wiring so I have more room to work. Retractable upper belts are a safer configuration, in my opinion, because without them you need to leave the belts loose in order to reach the pod and other controls.
