Brief Description:  Misc. Penetrations and Duct Prep.

The photos don’t show the extent of the ONE MILLION (may be a slight exaggeration) penetration and cleanup items I performed to prepare the ship for disassembly and painting.

I made a list of outstanding items that needed attention before I took everything off the frame of the ship again, such as: cutting the hole for the power source on the firewall rib, cutting the holes for the fuel shut off valve, cutting all of the 3” holes in the ribs for the cabin heat, trimming the lower cheek panels to match the inside hinge panels I made, resizing screw holes that were a few mm off, trim panels that required a bit more clearance from the frame, etc.

The next step was walking the entire ship with a red pen and marking additional areas that needed further trimming or adjustments. Each panel seemed to have something that would need a little tweaking once it came off the ship, and now was the time to do it. Once it’s painted and ready to assemble onto the frame, I would like to keep the additional panel work to a minimum.

I was able to do a lot with a drill press, although some of the holes were make with a hand drill and file. You will see more of these when it starts to go back together.
