Brief Description:  More Interior Progress

Now, she is starting to look like she did when I took her down to the frame! I need to cut back the seat panels a little bit, but other than that, it looks pretty good. There are several areas that I will be marking that will need some attention with the english wheel to get them to fit tighter to each other, but for this phase, I’m very pleased with the fit and finish.

Another finishing modification I will need to tackle is the edging of some of the panels. I bought a simple hard disk tool with two wheels mounted to it that is used to slightly bend over the very edge of the sheetmetal for a tight fit once it is riveted or screwed together. Depending on the seam, there is a tendency to have some of the lapping joints gap open when secured. This final bend is supposed to eliminate, or at least reduce the gap from happening. The only heartburn will be actually making the bends. It’s all by feel, and if you are too light, it won’t be a consistent bend. If you are too aggressive, it will bow and stretch the metal and ruin a perfectly straight panel. I have practiced a little, and hopefully I will get the results I’m looking for. That is for the next disassembly.
