Brief Description:  Back from Oshkosh! Co-pilot well panel

Well, I'm back from Air Venture and it couldn't have been more successful for my building efforts. I was lucky enough to spend time with the Safari team and the various builders who were in attendance both with and without their aircraft. To a person, they were all incredible individuals and more than willing to answer my most basic of questions. I couln't have been more impressed with them or their helicopters.

The Safari crew was also amazing and immediately pulled me into their family. I'm not a super social guy, but they made it easy to weave right into the group and let me feel like I belonged.

My biggest and best surprise was an instant friendship and partnership I made with my new buddy Tom. We met in an EAA electrical and avionics workshop, and we have been pretty much inseperable ever since. He is about 6 months ahead of me with his Safari build, and he is amazingly mechanical. I'm sure that I'm going to struggle to keep up with him, but I love the new friendship and having a partner in crime to share the daily progress (and setbacks) with.

While in Oshkosh, I took hundreds of photos and was able to actually see some of the future steps I've been really unclear on. Tom and I also took several forums and workshops that provided us with little pearls and takeaways that we can immeditately apply.

Getting back into the shop was great, and I spent most of the day unpacking, organizing and labeling bags of rivets, nuts, washers, etc. that I bought in bulk at the show. I then assembled a new binder that includes all of the downloads available on the Safari website. I was also able to obtain a copy of a draft update to the construction manual, which is VERY helpful because the one I've been working with is barely helpful, and arguably hurtful. (Thanks Tom!)

I can't wait to make some significant progress in the next few months.
