Brief Description:  Left collective well panel fabrication

This small panel took longer than I expected. I used my new sheet metal brake adjusted to accomodate a larger radius bend, and it changed the sizing more than I expected. Luckily I made the piece just a little too big and was able to cut it down a few times for the proper fit.

I spent a decent amount of time removing all of the stress risers from the panel, but as with most of the pieces, I'm sure I will be going through all of them again before I drill for the rivets. As with the other earlier pieces, I am trying to be very careful with the final fit.

Before quiting for the day, I tried the template on the left side, and I think I will be able to modify the cardboard to make the fabrication of the panel much faster than the left side. I hope to be able to spend some time on this tomorrow, but Friday is my last day to work in the shop before heading off to Wisconsin for Air Venture again this year.

This will be one of the most important years for me to go to Oshkosh because rather than spending time in the safety forums as I have done in the past, this year I will be attending several builder workshops starting with a two day class on electrical systems and avionics. I am going to suck up as much education next week as possible.
