As I mentioned yesterday, my standards for quality and finish of the sheet metal work has increased dramatically since I started this project. As I have gotten better with manipulating the metal, I've become less happy with a few of the bends of earlier pieces.
So that said, tonight was about taking a few steps back and modifying a few of the panels to clean them up and fit better. I think It's hard to tell from the photos, but I trimmed and reshaped the kick panels, and I reshaped the floor panel to merge with the adjacent panels and to clear the travel of the tail rotor pedals.
I am really happy how this came out and I'm glad I took the time to clean up the things that I know would have bugged me down the road. Finish matters even though most of the interior will be covered with carpet, I want to know that things are tight and done with care and mindfulness.
Tomorrow I need to buy a router table, a piece of oak and 1/2" round bar stock soI can begin the other panels that need to wrap around the seat tubes. I think this is going to be the most challenging sheet metal project yet.
