Brief Description: RD: Finished stiffeners and dimpled skin
Finally received the stiffener that I've been waiting for from Van's (R-815CGA - See entry on 2007/06/12). Feels like forever and a day that I've been waiting (2 weeks) and am very happy to be back in the shop.
FYI: It's a $5 USD item but I was quoted $100 for the shipping. I asked Vans if they could cut that long pece of angle into the 3 pieces t actually was. They obliged and the shipping came down to $20 as a result (it now also included two Vans Airforce Caps for good measure! ;)
In no time at all, I had cut the new R-815A to shape, deburred, edge prepped and finished it up. I cleco'd t into position and match drilled to the rudder skin. Removed it, deburred, dimpled (with pneumatic squeezer) and apropriately marked it for position.
I then set up the DRDT-2 with the table and dimpled the rudder skin to stiffener attachment holes.
