Brief Description:  Forward Fuselage/Center section

Today I applied tank sealer to the area of the center nine rivet holes on the forward edge of the forward floor, where the forward floor and the firewall rivet together. I then clecoed the firewall to the floor and also clecoed th ebaggage sidewall and the baggage floor into position to add extra rigidity to the structure before riveting.

I then riveted the six outer rivet holes common of the firewall and forward floor, leaving the center nine holes unriveted as instructed by the manual. These will remain clecoed for now. I put the forward fueslage section to one side and started on the center section.

I drilled the elevator cable holes for the RV 8( have to be careful here as the holes for the RV8a cables are close by, it wouldn't do to drill the wrong holes) in both the front and rear center section bulkheads using a unibit to open them up to 5/8ths of an inch. I deburred these.

I fabricated the two seat belt lug spacers, edging the outer edges and inners edges, where slight burs had been created by cutting them to length. I deburred the edges and the holes in the two seat belt lugs.

I then fabricated the fwd control mount (F-849). I cut it to the rough shape, and finished the shape using files. I then drilled the first #12 hole and the 3/8th" hole (after measuring around four times to be sure). I clamped the control mount to the front side of the center section fwd bulkhead using an AN3 bolt in the exiting bolt hole and clamped it with a C clamp, I drilled the second #12 holes using the center section fwd bulkhead as a pattern. I then dis assembled everything and deburred the last #12 hole and edged the control mount.

That's it for today.
