Today I measured and cut the hinge rod to the oppropriate lengths, not exactly in the middle, but the easiet lengths to make my flap hinge work. I cut 5 lugs off of the hinge itself, approximately in the middle of the hinge and bent the rods so they'd fit correctly onto the flap brace so they can be griped by the lug,/screw used to lock them down. I used an 1008 nutplate and screw, and the lug has two grooves in it, one for each hinge rod half.
I then started to connect the aileron control rod to the aileron, but found a feeling of friction when the aileron was very nearly on the control stop. This, it appears, is being caused by the rivets that hold the connecting rod end into the tube assembly, gently rubbing the hole in the rear spar where it exits the wing to connect to the aileron.. So I'm going to see if I can get a file in there to expand the hole a bit.
