Brief Description:

I got out the new tip rib that Van’s sent last week and assembled it with the counterbalance rib and skin. Looked better, but still not the usual Van’s quality of match holes. Swapped out the counterbalance ribs to find the best fit. With the help of the vice, I finally got it to match close enough and drilled the assembly.

I then added in the lead counterweight (pointed in the right direction this time) and took it over to the drill press to through drill the counterweight and ribs. Like last time, I started with an 1/8” bit and then went at it with the #12. Boelube helps quite a bit.

Assembled the skeleton and drilled the interface holes.

Then I clecoed on the skin. I had some trouble with the trim access doubler interfering with the E702 spar. I bent the flange of the doubler back some and it fit then.

Drilled all the holes, both sides

Also, I found a small tripod in the closet and finally took a couple pictures with me in the scene.
