Brief Description:  Longerons 9 –Sharp downward bend

First I deburred the longerons and F721 Aft deck parts. Then I clamped together the two longerons for the downward bend. I was surprised that I could also cleco them together through the aft deck holes. The alignment of the holes and bend was very good.

My research on VAF turned up the “Orendorf” method for doing this particular bend. The idea is to clamp the two longerons together back to back, pull (bend) one out the required 2 ¾” (as measured against the other un-bent one) and then pull out the other to get the total 5 ½” separation (2 x 2 ¾”). I think the Orendorf method refers to RV build videos that you can buy.

I finished the night by finding and downloading a protractor app to measure the longeron twist for the next step.
