Brief Description:  Wing Pickups

I had a little time today to complete a couple of outstanding issues that I need to take care of before installing the leading edges and tanks.

I had noticed a few under driven shop heads on the rivets between the main wing ribs and front spar under the tanks. With both tanks off the wing stand I took care of those with the 3x gun. I pulled the leading edges also and double checked them, they were all good.

With the leading edges off, the other item to address was the tie down thread depth. After cutting the hole in each leading edge for the tie down rings way back when, I noticed that I did not tap the holes in the aluminum tie down extrusion deep enough when I did the fit check with the tie down rings. Both were about a half inch too shallow. I got the tap set out and fixed that pretty quickly.

With the wing leading edges off, I also noticed (or maybe remembered) that I still needed to countersink the top of the front spar flange for the aft most leading edge attachment. I think the reason for this is that with the top main wing skins on the countersink cage won’t sit flush to the spar flange. I need to pull the skins off anyway to debur, dimple, and prime, so that can be another thing to do while waiting for the tank sealant to set up.
