Brief Description: Initial Aileron work – skins and stiffener rivetin
Pauline finished up back riveting the second skin and stiffeners.
I bent both skin/stiffener assemblies with my brake tool built for the elevators. The straight edge test (shown in Vans section 5 guidelines) looked pretty good but the bend does not come very close to matching the spar height in the relaxed condition. I also noted that the 90 degree bends on the spar don’t match the skin angle very well. I’ll have to check the plans and see if there are any actions around that.
I also finished working the edges for all of the aileron hinge brackets.
