Brief Description:  Front and rear spar riveting

-Finished riveting the stiffener’s to the spar on the left side. All went well except one. I noticed that one hit with the squeezer will not always set the rivet fully. I was checking each rivet with the gauge as I went, and sometimes giving them a second shot. I was not paying attention on one and the squeezer was not lined up properly on the second shot. Ended up with a shop head that was damaged. The rivet was probably fine but I drilled it out. It took some work to get it out, and I scratched up the primer a bit. After I got it cleaned up, I gave it a shot with the rattle can.
-Started assembling the front spars to the HS710 & HS714 stiffeners and HS405 ribs while the primer dried on my patch job. I noticed that a few of the holes for the HS405/HS703/HS714/710 intersection on both sides were not aligned enough to get a rivet in although a cleco would work just fine. This is the intersection where it is difficult to get the drill aligned correctly. I drilled these out again.
-Got that last rivet in that I had to drill out.
-Riveted the remaining elevator hinge brackets to the rear spar.
-Dug out the nuts, bolts, and washers for the HS411 assembly (elevator hinge bearing) but did not tighten them up as I don’t have a torque wrench yet.
-Time to go fly! Had a date with the wife for dinner in Friday Harbor (KFHR). It is about an hour’s flight each way in a C172. Wheels up at about 6:45pm in Renton. 10 minute walk into town from the airport, dinner, a stroll through the marina, and then we headed home. Touch down was about 9:30pm. Great weather and a beautiful sunset from 5500’.
