After cutting pieces of fiberglass mat to use along with resin in bonding the turbine oil tank halves as the video suggests I realized that even with great care I would end up with a lot of fine pieces of glass strand loose inside the oil tank which would be very difficult to flush out and it bothered me to have them left in the tank. So, to avoid this and the mess and rush of working with the mat pieces and resin with 10 minutes cure time I'm planning to use the extra Hysol 9460 epoxy that was used to bond the doors to the fiberglass frames to bond the oil tank halves. I checked the specs and it is good for use with hot oils so I prepped a couple pieces of scrap fiberglass and made a test bond joint which I will evaluate before taking the plunge on the tank.
Next I clamped together the two halves of the turbine oil tank and drilled two 3/32" alignment holes in the flange at opposite corners. These will allow me to positively position the halves when gluing the tank together and prevent any sliding while the glue cures.
Sanded the edges of the glass doublers I added to the left cabin door opening and re-opened the holes for the lower door latch. Sanded and cleaned the inside of the left cabin half then primed and texture painted the interior as I had done with the right half. I think the cabin is now finally ready to go to the painters.
