I got all the holes drilled to the 1/4in diameter. The final hole size will be drilled when the fittings are welded and the landing gear in place.
One thing I found was that I needed a new drill press vise. While drilling some of the holes in this thick plate the jaws would angle the piece a bit off vertical when I tightened it up...enough so it would make the hole the wrong size. Also, sometimes it wouldn't hold the correct way and it almost ruined the piece I was drilling when it let loose. I spent a LOT of time, too much actually, fighting the vise instead of making parts. The old vise had it, so I ordered a new one.
