Brief Description: Horizontal Stabilizer Mount Part 3
Well, after thinking about my mounts, I decided to make two new ones. I really wasn't satisfied with the fit of the mounts. The hole was a bit too big and the edge that welds to the crosstube didn’t have the weld area I was comfortable with. There was quite a bit taken out due to the weld bead of the crosstube, not leaving much to weld.
I made two new mounts (actually 3 if you count the one I bent the wrong way!) and was very careful of the fit of the through tube this time…no play whatsoever. Tomorrow I’ll lay it out and weld. I have to figure out an easier way to get this done. After clamping one part, you can’t really tell if it’s aligned and then you have to deal with fiddling the fit and align the center tube all at once. I really don’t like the way others have done it and I have to figure out a better way. I’ll have to put my noodle to work and think about this.
