I was able to get a bit more done. I added the elevator hinge supports to the stab. The inboard strap would be easy to clamp, but the outboard would be a problem because of the diagonal tube welded by the bushing making clamping problematic. I played with c-clamps and other stuff when it occurred to me that all I needed was some kind of support just so I could tack the darn thing.
I took two 1 1/4in washers and put them on either side of the bushing with a bolt. The washers supported the support perfectly. It was just balanced there, but that's all I needed to get a tack in place to hold it. Problem solved!
Now all the tabs are trimmed and fit to the hinges. Finally, the stabs can be hung up and stored until it's time to install them.
