Brief Description:  Profiled Horizontal Stab Part 1

The next step in the profiled tail is how to suspend the front and aft spars to accomodate the airfoil shape. I though a bit wha the best way would be with the minimum fuss and I came up with this.

The airfoil thickness at it's widest would raise the stab off the table 11/16ths. I figured since the layout was already done, all I had to do was make thicker jig blocks and put spacers underneath. I cut some blocks out of a nice chunk of 2x4, making sure one side was 90deg. I pre-drilled the screw holes so they wouldn't split. Working from the middle out, I replaced each normal block with an extended block. Once that was done, I used some small scrap pieces of 3/4in tubing I had saved for spacers. I knew those little stubby pieces would come in handy someday! I will still have a 1/16th spacer under the first rib, but that's ok. That gives me a little wiggle-room for installation.
