Brief Description:  Inspecting Floats

I started to look at my floats a bit because I may work on them this winter. I pressure washed the inside and outside of each float since they had been sitting for years before I got them. I noticed that one of the bottoms had some soft spots at the keel due to corrosion. Apparently, they had been patched before because of this. A fellow bearhawk builder (Rob Taylor) and I took off one of the larger bottom patches to see the extent of the damage. The skin and keel strip was toast, but the keel inside was fine due to the fact that Edo had chromated all the parts at assembly, saving them from corrosion. That was a big relief. All it looks like is some skin replacement and lots of TLC.
