Brief Description: Parking Brake Valve Part 1
|
|
The parking brake valve needed some AN fittings that would attach to 1/4in brake lines. Jim surmised that Scott just used normal 3D AN fittings and modified them for their uses. In order to accommodate 1/4in lines I had to make new modified fittings out of 4D nipples. I looked for a few hours online to get the proper springs that hold the valves closed. I got something that was almost identical, only in .230 in diameter. The original springs couldn’t be used because they fit inside a 3D nipple. I needed a spring with a larger diameter so it could sit on the machined shoulder inside the fitting. They turned out great, so I reassembled the valve and it’s good to go. To make the fitting I took a drill just under 1/4in and drilled out the fitting. I finished it with a 1/4in reamer. I matched the depth of the original fittings.
