Brief Description:  Fabric Pokers

I had to make a fabric stitching hole poker and modify my needle. The hole poker is a variation on the tool advice given by Tony Markl in his book “Fabric Tips and Techniques” It works great and it doesn’t roll off anything since the AL handle is flat. I used a chunk from a #40 drill bit that was too long, sharpened it and embedded it into the handle with a bit of JB weld. The needle was a straight needle with an upturned tip. The “straightness” made it a bit difficult to pass through the fabric front to back. Just a bit of curve is necessary. The needle is very brittle, so I ran it through my slip roller for a gradual bend. It worked great, but the eye was crushed. I took a propane torch and heated the end red hot, pounded a flat spot in it and cut a new hole with a dremel cutoff wheel and a very thin file. Works great!
