Brief Description:  Elevator Stiffeners

Started working on the right elevator today while waiting for the rudder trailing edge adhesive to cure. 1st process is to make stiffeners that attach inside the elevator skins to give them rigidity. Each set of stiffeners is a different length because the elevator skins are not uniform (they get smaller as you go outboard. The vertical flange of each stiffener has to be tapered so that they fit inside the elevator when it is closed. The 2nd picture shows the stiffeners temporarily attached inside the right elevator skin. The folded end will become the trailing edge of the elevator and it's in this narrow end that the stiffeners have to be tapered enough so that they clear the other side of the skin when it gets folded together during final assembly.

Pop and I also worked on a temporary, wheeled structure for the fuselage so that I can roll it out of the shop when I need more room. I'll show pictures of that when the wheels I ordered come in and we put it together.
